Craig Napoliello is a New York City based award wining scenic designer whose work has been seen both Off-Broadway and regionally. Award-winning shows include Sunday In the Park with George, Broadwayworld & I Am My Own Wife, The Robert Fulton Award for best scenic design.
For Craig, the most important element of the design/creative process is staying true to the story being told. As such, his work focuses on the exploration of how to visually represent that story in ways that elicit the desired impact on the audience as they experience the show. He does this in part through the choices of materials and textures he uses on stage and how they are seen. while working to ensure the show flows as intended, and closely working with the design team.
Both new work and established work excite him, as it comes down to storytelling and what that story is. He is equally comfortable designing a fully fleshed-out interior or a single strong statement on stage. He received his MFA from the University of Iowa.
When not in the theatre or studio, he enjoys splitting his time between traveling around Europe: Spain, Poland, Greece, Italy, to name a few, and running, having completed three marathons and a number of half marathons.
